XVL Translator Add-in for Inventor
Technology Preview
This add-in allows you to export XVL format files from Inventor 2008. XVL compression technology allows everyone in the manufacturing digital pipeline to use 3D design data - even for large and complex assemblies. With the free XVL Player and XVL Studio from Lattice Technology, XVL enables quick and easy access for everyone in every stage of digital prototyping: design review, digital assembly, manufacturing process instruction and simulation, technical illustration, customer service, marketing, sales, quality control, product development and supply chain management. This add-in allows Autodesk Inventor users to share their models with the XVL community.
To get started:
- Download the installer ZIP file.
- Unzip it.
- Run the installer and specify your preferred language: English or Japanese.
- The next time you run Inventor 2008 and open a part/assembly file, you will see the XVL menu.
To use the XVL translator::
- Open a part/assembly file with Inventor 2008.
- Select XVL export from XVL menu.
- Set desired options and hit Export. // Details are in the Reference manual.
To view the translated XVL:
- Visit Lattice Technology web site and follow the instructions to download the XVL Player installer:

- Start Internet Explorer and "Drag & Drop" your XVL file.
