FAQ

  1. How long can I use Project Silverstar for AutoCAD Civil 3D?The Autodesk Labs technology preview will expire on August 1, 2012 but any data that you create may continue to be used even after the end of the technoloy preview.

  2. How long will my job take before I receive an email?
There are multiple factors that influence the time to solve your problem:

    • The number of other jobs that are scheduled. Sometimes there are more jobs arriving than Project Silverstar can process. This means that your job will be queued up.
    • In the Optimization Wizard, in the Optimization Options (last tab), there is a field called Maximum Solving Time. This is your upper limit. You should always receive an answer within this time provided your job is processing and not in the queue.
    • Besides the Maximum Solving Time, there is also a “precision check” that may stop the optimization early. The optimizer continuously changes a design in a way where it makes progress with respect to earthwork cost. Once it does not make any progress anymore, over a certain number of changes, it assumes that the solution is optimal and stops. So you may receive an answer before your Maximum Solving Time.

For example, if you have a Maximum Solving Time of 60 minutes, you should get a solution for your first submitted problem within an hour unless the precision check causes it to complete sooner or a high volume of jobs delays the procesing start time.
