Overview
Autodesk® RobotTM Structural Analysis software provides a scalable, country-specific analysis solution for the structural engineer to analyze many types of structures.
During the structural design process, a first crtical step is to perform a static and dynamic analysis. This analysis is indispensable to understanding internal forces and displacements of the structure.
The structural engineering design process requires multiple calculations. Static analysis is a 'simple' solution for a set of equations helping to eliminate the need for individual calculations. Nevertheless, in the case of a large structure that requires multiple calculations, these equations can consist of a few hundred thousand unknowns. shortening of the calculation time provides benefits to the design process.
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2010 uses advanced analysis methods: Sparse and Iterative solvers. In order to accelerate the analysis process, The Multi-Threaded Solver Technology Preview leverages the math function library Math Kernel Library (Intel® MKL) through the application. Intel Math Kernel Library is a library of highly optimized, extensively threaded math routines for science, engineering, and financial applications that require maximum performance.
The Intel MKL library contains, among others, the calculation solver PARDISO. This solver has been integrated into the Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis 2010 program as an internal Multi-thread calculation solver.
The Multi-thread calculation solver (Intel MKL library) is beneficial for analyzing large projects. Using this add-in allows for:
- Optimal work on an Intel® processor, including use of the parallel processing in multi-core processors; as a result, the analysis tables included below demonstrate improved calculation performance in the sample models used.
- Better memory use which results in the ability to calculate larger and more complex projects.
