Getting Started

To get started with the Interactive Terrain Shaping for AutoCAD Civil 3D  technology preview, here are the Set up Instructions:

1. To get the ribbon tab, please type cui and load ts.cuix as partial customization file. The default path for ts.cuix is:
   C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2012\enu\Support\

2. For good performance, change the following settings:
   a. In Options->Selection, turn off selection preview.
   b. In Options->Display, turn off rollover tooltip.
   c. In Options->System->Performance Settings, turn off Adaptive degradation. Go to Manual tune. Turn on Enable hardware acceleration.

3. Set the values of system variables as follows:
   OFFSETGAPTYPE: 1.
   GRIPSUBOBJMODE: 0
   DYNMODE: 2

4. Make two viewports. Set the shademode to Shaded in one viewport (for 3D view) and 2dwireframe in the other viewport (for plan view).The new selection functionality would work only in 3D view.

5. Refer to the user guide to find the description of new commands and known limitations and workarounds.

6. Refer to the tutorial videos to understand how to use these commands.

Warning: In this version, we are only supporting terrain shaping feature for 64-bit installs.
