3D/2D ShareNow Add-in Read Me
The feedback from 3D/2D ShareNow users has been pouring into Labs.Freewheel@autodesk.com. Keep it coming. The following are known limitations of the technology preview for the 3D/2D ShareNow Add-in for AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, and Design Review.
-
The ShareNow Add-in for AutoCAD supports the English version of AutoCAD. Our non-English users have requested support.
-
The ShareNow Add-in for AutoCAD publishes an individual sheet or a DSD file. Some of our AutoCAD users would like to see the add-in accept a Sheet Set for publication to Project Freewheel. In the mean time, a Sheet Set can be saved to a DSD file.
-
The Inventor ShareNow Add-in installer needs to be run as Admin (UAC) on Microsoft Windows Vista.
-
The ShareNow Add-in for Revit selects the first version of Revit it finds. This is default Microsoft installer behavior. Our users with side-by-side installations versions of Revit on the same computer would like the installer to locate their installation of Revit 2008.
-
The ShareNow installer wipes out the references to other previously installed Revit add-ins. Please back up your Revit.ini file and put the appropriate lines back into the [EXTERNAL APPLICATION] section of the Revit.ini file.
-
The design, e.g. AutoCAD drawing, must be saved before it can be shared. This is related to the publishing process that creates a DWF file before uploading to Project Freewheel.
-
Though this is not a limitation of the Freewheel technology itself, uploads to Project Freewheel via its file open capability or the ShareNow publishing utility are limited to DWF files of 15MB or smaller.
-

When the message "Error on InternetWriteFile 12031" appears, it may indicate that the network connection was reset during the file transfer from Design Review to Freewheel.
Solution: Verify your network connection is available and attempt the file transfer again. -
When Firefox is the default Web browser, installing choosing File > Freewheel from Design Review may open an error message.
Solution: Set Microsoft Internet Explorer as the default Web browser. -
In the Design Review File menu, the Freewheel menu choice does not provide an underscored accessibility key.
-
When transferring a file from Design Review to Project Freewheel is canceled, no dialog box opens prompting the user to confirm or to resume the process.
This feedback has been received, logged, and is being considered for inclusion in future updates of Autodesk technologies. In addition, the following anomalies have been reported as feedback from ShareNow users:
-
DWF files containing markups can be problematic. Some markup items are not published to Project Freewheel. Other markups appear in the wrong color.
-
Password protected DWF files cannot be published to Project Freewheel.
-
DWF files whose names contain a percent sign (%) cannot be published to Project Freewheel.
-
DWF files using digital rights management, i.e., markup disables, measurement disabled, or print disabled, cannot be published to Project Freewheel. When transferring a measure- or print-disabled DWF files to Project Freewheel, the user is not informed that these disablements are not supported by Project Freewheel.
-
DWF files containing multi-byte text (e.g. Japanese, Chinese) cannot be published to Project Freewheel.
-
At this time, Project Freewheel does not support hyperlinks.
-
ShareNow publishes in color. Files in Grayscale or in black and white do not remain in grayscale or black and white when published to Project Freewheel.
-
3D files with visibility set to Edges only or Shaded do not remain as Edges only or Shaded when published to Project Freewheel. Lighting effects are not published to Project Freewheel.
-
Finite Element Analysis data is lost when published to Project Freewheel.
Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming.
