Under Construction: Frame Generator Customization Tool

Radioactive WARNING: We found an issue in the tool for Frame Generator Customization authoring. In some cases, when the structural profile is authored, some of the sketch constraints are lost.

WORKAROUND: Product Designer, Loren Jahraus, notes that constraints to projected origin geometry are lost during authoring. This causes the sketch to update unexpectedly in certain situations. If you apply a Fix constraint to the sketch before authoring, the sketch will stay in position.

We are planning on creating a new version of the tool to be made available on Autodesk Labs. For now we are issuing this warning and have temporarily removed the ability to download the tool from the site. Look for an announcement on this blog when an updated tool is once again available.

Inventor Frame Generator allow you to select and use materials exist in current project's styles library for members(you can see the Material drop down on the insert dialog). if the material not exist you can add it in "Style and Stabdard editor"(choose from Inventor's Format menu)

Yeah great, I have a very expensive program with a frame generator that doesn't frame anything using the typical materials our company uses. And no way to add our materials.

Was this loss of constraints the reason that the profiles would go off center when rotating or changing the insertion point? That would happen to me on some of my profiles.

When was this removed? Any rough idea as to when it will be added back again?

I have some profiles created, I imported them from an AutoCAD file and I fixed the skectch features because I know that profile shape is never going to change. Does this issue affect fixed sketches that have no dimensional constraints?
